Friday Farm Day Belated

Hey hey hey

Due to some poor vet appointment planning on my part, we had to be delayed by a day but here we are to see what nature with my help has brought forth for us this week.

As a reminder, I garden organically (no pesticides or herbicides, only organic fertilizer) in Zone 9b in Central Florida. I started gardening in April 2021. learning as I go on YouTube and blogs.

Today, to the glee, I'm sure, of some of my friends, is sunflower day because we have a ton!

Starting in the front yard, here I am standing in front of a clump of three. Please excuse my dirty dress hanging off my body. Let's all remember, I just lost almost twenty pounds and I'm certainly not shopping for new clothes any time soon. Plus, I was gardening most of the morning. For reference, I'm 5'1...that tall one has to be 9 ft!

Now, for our banana check in. Remember, we have three that are fruiting! These are dwarf Cavandish bananas, the same kind as you get in the grocery only smaller.

Now, onto the backyard..

The papaya and passion fruit are still going strong!

The tomatoes I planted to replace the Everglades that got destroyed by root knot nematodes are doing well.

The cucumbers are going strong, and I did remember to plant luffa...those haven't started coming up yet.

The strawberries are still coming in

And, now, for the finale. The potato plants started dying off which meant it was time to pull them.

Since I planted so late in the season when it was already pretty hot, we didn't get much of a harvest.

    Man, that's one tall sunflower! 😮 The one you captured with drops of water on it is really pretty.

    I love new potatoes. Steamed with just a touch of salt is so yummy 😁

    I am in my glory seeing your beautiful sunflowers and how much they have grown. I love the orange ones. They all look so wonderful my friend. You look great also..

    I'm sure that sunflower has grown since I last saw it yesterday!

      It'll put on more flowers for sure. Whether or not it's actually done growing taller is another story. I think when Nick gets home, we're going to take the tape measure out there to see how tall it is.

    It's just lovely to see your smiling face, we don't care about the loose dress! (congrats again on the reason for the looseness). And yes, it's smart to not go shopping just yet since you don't know where you'll level off.

      Aw thanks smarty.

      Yeah, I’m not shopping. Doc says your weight levels off at a certain point and they take you down to a maintenance dose. That’s when I’ll shop.
