Friday Farm Day

Image
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Folks! You know what time of the week it is! It's time to saunter through our gardens and have a look at what nature with a little help from me has brought forth. As a reminder, I grow organically in Zone 9b year round. I started late in life and just began my fourth year gardening. I learned almost everything I know from Youtube, blog posts, and some gardening friends I've made along the way. Starting in the front yard, the lilies have bloomed! This is a swamp lily, scientific name Crinum Bulbispermum from the Amaryllidacaeae family from South Africa. We have these all over our front yard because they are super easy to maintain. In fact, I don't have to do anything and they reproduce new bulbs all the time. The roses bloomed and looked great, now the sun has bleached them to this interesting mauve color. The Pentas, another low maintenance plant, are also looking lovely. Harvest transition. I ate thes...

Friday Farm Day

I hope all are well rested and ready to see the sights of our gardens! As a reminder, I grow organically, mostly in containers, in Zone 9B. I taught myself through Youtube. I've been gardening since the Spring of 2021. We're starting in the front yard. First up on our tour, the Striped Barbados Lily. Isn't she glorious, folks? Next, we should probably check in on the bananas While we're here, we should stop to smell the Star Jasmine. Intoxicating, isn't it? Let's have a look at the Pentas, shall we? The mulberry is bursting with fruit! Enough that we've already gotten two bowls full, and still need to pick more. I'm thinking of doing Mulberry liqueur this year, anyone want some? Moving to the backyard, while we're on the theme of harvesting. I harvested a bunch of Radishes and tomatoes Then, I pickled some radish, carrots, and onions for a nice little condiment. The sna...

Friday Farm Day Belated

Image
Hi all, we had a rainy Friday and Saturday here in Floriduh, so I’m slow getting this week’s post out. Upon leaving AFF, I’ve made the decision to stop numbering these. We all know we’re here to see the garden, it makes no difference how long this tradition has been going on. Without further ado… Starting in the front yard, the mulberry is loaded and I mean loaded with berries Next up, sadly the first volunteer sunflowers of the year are not doing well. I think the ducks had a go at them, and they look diseased. But, have no fear new volunteer sunflowers are already popping up to take their place. Like this one And these The pentas are looking lovely as ever Just look how gorgeous the white and red ones look against one another Moving to the backyard, the Blackberries are coming in As well as blooming The beefsteak tomato plant has set its first fruit of the season The baby pineapple survived its first transplant And my potatoes are showing themselves, like the one in this bin An...

Blogger/Blogspot Tutorial - How to Edit Your Blog Posts and Labels with UPDATED PDF FILE from JN

Image
Hi all We are starting with the first page when you get on Blogger. You click on whatever post you want to edit, like where I circled the "Untitled" post in the screenshot. This will take you to where you can edit your blog post, like you're seeing me do here to the "Untitled" post in the previous screenshot. Make whatever changes you want and click Publish. It will go live right away. I do want to use this post to talk about "Labels", which function as tags. It's how you tell search engines (if you want your blog searchable, see " Settings " tutorial) what your post is about. Since I want other bloggers to find us, I have a list of labels I use.  AFF, AdultFriendFinder, Adult Friend Finder, Lady Cat Lady, LadyCatLady, EnigmaInitiative, Enigma Initiative, etc. You get my point.  I suggest you use your screen names and blog names rather than mine. 😉 Always make sure you hit publish after you've edited something. And, you can edit it ...
